So say goodbye to muffin tops, overdone tans, and sweating through your clothing, because we are committed to getting you summer ready!

Laser treatments
There are several laser treatments that are safe for the summer. They can improve skin laxity, diminish wrinkles, and remove hair (in areas not exposed to the sun). However, always apply sunblock afterwards if your skin is tanned for protection. Lasers stimulate collagen production, rejuvenate the skin, shed years off your appearance, and require little to no downtime. Here are two treatments that can refresh the skin in the summer:

  • This laser treatment is ideal for individuals that can’t seem to get rid of stubborn fat through diet and exercise. It’s a safe, non-invasive technology that significantly tightens the skin while killing fat cells at the same time. BodyFX can target fat on the abdomen, love handles, and back, and is also effective at reducing cellulite. It’s a win-win!
  • This is a powerful laser that treats pigmentation, skin irregularities, and signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles. When it comes to the world of aesthetics, Picoway Resolve is the most requested procedure because the healthy skin around the treated area promotes quick healing.

 Botox
Did you know that there’s an alternative to wearing antiperspirants? Antiperspirants are designed to control sweating and body odour, but traditional antiperspirants with aluminum can still leave your underarms damp an hour after application. Botox is a great alternative for excessive sweating, which is also known as hyperhidrosis. It prevents sweating and can be used to treat areas such as the underarms, palms, soles, chest, and the scalp.

Skincare
The best skincare regimen involves ingredients that contribute to anti-aging and sun protection. Unprotected sun exposure leads to premature aging and wrinkling and can also cause cancer due to the Ultraviolet (UV) rays. It’s important for all of us to protect ourselves from the effects of UV-A and UV-B rays all year round and not just in the summer. The MunkMD Dermatology Clinic recommends the following elements as part of a proper skincare regimen:

  • Sun protection. The first step is getting a broad-spectrum sunscreen. This should be minimum SPF 30 and contain zinc oxide and titanium dioxide because these ingredients sit on top of the skin and form a barrier against the sun’s rays. Sunscreen should be reapplied every 2-3 hours.
  • Anti-aging. To get the best results, you have to understand the ingredients. Antioxidants such as vitamin C help combat free radical skin damage. Retinol exfoliates the skin and stimulates collagen, which is a protein in our skin that helps gives it elasticity. Skin brighteners will help prevent pigmentation and sun damage. Lastly, growth factors stimulate protein and collagen to keep a youthful complexion.

These are our tips for summer skincare, but they can also be useful all year round! Have any burning questions? We are very happy to answer them on any of our social media platforms!
