Morpheus8: The New Skin Tightening Treatment
- Posted on: Dec 20 2021
If you are keeping up with the new skin care treatments, you’ve probably heard of the Morpheus8. This new treatment has influencers and celebrities, like Amanda Holden and Kim Kardashian, raving about its skin tightening benefits. So, what is the buzz around the Morpheus8 all about?
Read along to learn everything about the new treatment, from the benefits to the process to the aftercare. It might just be the answer to your ageing skin concerns.
Morpheus8 is a minimally invasive procedure that combines the resurfacing and collagen-boosting benefits of microneedling with radiofrequency energy. The technology uses a matrix of micro pins to renew the deeper layers of the skin, which triggers the body’s healing response. Following the treatment, the body produces new collagen and elastin, leaving you with firmer and smoother skin. It can also help eliminate some unwanted fat.
A feature that sets the Morpheus8 apart from other treatments is its colourblind technology which makes it suitable for all skin types, including darker skin tones.
What areas can the Morpheus8 target?
The most popular treated areas are the neck and jawline. However the technology can work on a wide range of areas on the body such as the eyes, abdomen, back and legs. Many patients will notice vast improvements in the wrinkles and fine lines on the neck and face, sagging skin underneath the eyes, acne scars and other skin discolourations.
What happens during a Morpheus8 treatment?
Before your treatment starts, you can choose to have a numbing cream applied to the treated area. Once you are comfortable, the tip of the Morpheus8, which contains the needles, is applied to the skin. As the handpiece moves along your skin, it delivers pulses of radiofrequency energy into the skin. The depths of the needles are adjustable based on the area treated and the patient’s goals.
For example, for skin tightening, the needles will target the dermis level of the skin (the deeper layer); whereas, for resurfacing, the needles will target the epidermis level of the skin (the outer layer).
The length of the treatment depends on which area of the body is undergoing treatment. The procedure can last anywhere from 20 minutes for a full face to 30 minutes for the abdomen. Usually, we recommend 1-3 treatments. However, the number of treatments will depend on a patient’s goals.
Once the procedure is complete, you can expect to see results within three weeks. The best part? Improvements can continue up to 3 months post-treatment.
The Aftercare
Since Morpheus8 is a minimally invasive procedure, you can expect very little downtime. Patients will experience some redness following the procedure, which can last a couple of days. The skin will feel tight with a slight burning sensation. After the treatment, we advise avoiding direct sunlight for the following week. Remember to apply a liberal amount of sunscreen and moisturizer.
