Excel V™ Laser For Vascular And Pigmented Lesions

Cutera Excel V™ is a safe and effective technology to treat vascular and pigmented lesions. Many skin conditions manifest in the form of broken or abnormal blood vessels, as is the case of rosacea, in which the facial blood vessels dilate excessively causing redness and flushing. Excel V™ treats vascular lesions by administering a unique high power green laser, which is absorbed very selectively by the abnormal vessels. This causes the vein walls to collapse and seal shut. Over time the vessels will no longer be visible. Several treatments may be necessary to achieve the desired result. Considered by many as the gold standard for treating vascular and pigmented lesions, the Excel V™ delivers optimal results, while ensuring the skin is properly protected by a unique cooling mechanism built into the laser.

During the laser procedure, patients will feel a slight warming of the skin’s surface. Individual pulses are often described like an elastic band snapping on the skin. Patients can often immediately resume normal activities after the treatment.

Most patients will find that the majority of treated veins have shown significant improvement within 2-6 weeks of treatment. However, final results may not be apparent for several months. Treatments at MunkMD are individualized based on the underlying condition and desired result. Dr. Munk will discuss a plan tailored to his patient’s skin concerns during the consultation. Most patients will experience mild redness and swelling lasting 2-3 days after treatment.
