Muscle Relaxants Injections
Muscle Relaxants (deoxycholic acid) is a new injectable that is very effective at reducing the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat). It is the first injection that has obtained FDA approval for treatment of the double chin. It is not known whether the use of muscle relaxants outside this zone is safe at this point in time.
What is Muscle Relaxants?
Muscle Relaxants or deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule that aids in the digestion and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat underneath the chin, muscle relaxants causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, the cells can no longer store or accumulate fat.
Muscle Relaxants has been the focus of a global clinical development program involving over 20 clinical studies with more than 2,600 patients worldwide, of which over 1,600 have been treated with muscle relaxants.
Is Muscle Relaxants safe?
The safety profile of muscle relaxants Montreal is well characterized. The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. These can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
When can I see my result?
The majority of patients will experience visible results in 2 to 4 treatment sessions. During these sessions, Dr. Munk will administer muscle relaxants into the fat under your chin using multiple injections. Up to 6 treatment sessions may be administered spaced no less than one month apart.
How does muscle relaxants work?
When injected into the fat under your chin, muscle relaxants causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After the aesthetic response is achieved, retreatment with muscle relaxants is not expected. Results are thought to be long lasting.
