Muscle Relaxants
Muscle Relaxants (deoxycholic acid) is a new injectable that is very effective at reducing the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin. It is the first injection that has obtained FDA approval for treatment of the double chin.
When injected into the fat under your chin, muscle relaxants cause the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After the aesthetic response is achieved, retreatment with muscle relaxants is not expected. Results are thought to be long lasting.
The majority of patients will experience visible results in 2 to 4 treatment sessions. During these sessions, Dr. Munk will administer muscle relaxants into the fat under your chin using multiple injections. Up to 6 treatment sessions may be administered spaced no less than one month apart.
