Coolsculpting

With summer around the corner, now is the time to give your workouts a boost at MunkMD. Two prominent body contouring procedures are Coolsculpting and Cutera’s TruSculpt Flex. Both procedures use different mechanisms to achieve similar results. Coolsculpting uses cold to eliminate fat and Cutera’s TruSculpt Flex uses small electric currents. Both are effective non-invasive options that have little to no recovery time, and visible results within 8-12 weeks after a treatment session. While both have proven to be effective body contouring treatments, Coolsculpting and Cutera’s TruSculpt Flex can also work together. Here’s an in-depth look at both options and how they can be used in unison to achieve your goals.

Coolsculpting

Coolsculpting is a highly effective and non-invasive fat removal method. During a treatment session, a coolsculpting machine pulls fat into a cup-like device. The skin being held into the cup then receives a cold treatment that will freeze fat cells. Once frozen, the cells will die and be naturally eliminated by the body through the lymphatic system over a period of around 2 months. Fat cells will be flushed away from the body permanently, never to regenerate again. Most commonly targeted areas are in the hard-to-tone places of the body including:

  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Belly
  • Love handles
  • Bra fat
  • And more

Cutera’s TruSculpt Flex

Another non-surgical approach to body contouring, Cutera’s TruSculpt Flex uses small electrical currents to induce muscle contractions in targeted regions. The electrical stimulation is delivered to the full thickness of the muscle, resulting in intense contractions beyond what is naturally possible for increased muscle mass, strength, and tone. Three different treatment modes are used to stimulate muscles.

  1. Prep Mode: Creates a twisting motion to warm up, stretch the muscles and slowly build a tolerance to muscle contractions.
  2. Tone Mode: Contracts the muscle, holds it to the point of exhaustion, and then relaxes it to increase strength and enhance endurance.
  3. Sculpt Mode: Fast, deep, sequential contractions of the muscles to build muscle mass and increase basal metabolic rate (BMR).

The treated area may experience sensitivity following a treatment session, but most return to their routine without any downtime. The Cutera’s TruSculpt Flex system generally works well on the following areas:

  • Abdominal region
  • Arms
  • Buttox, thighs, and calves

Coolsculpt & Cutera’s TruSculpt Flex: Using Both for Optimal Results

Coolsculpting and Cutera’s TruSculpt Flex treatments can be combined for the best body sculpting results. Combining the two entails alternating between both treatments with rest in between sessions for optimal fat reduction. As each patient’s treatment plan is personalized, the number of sessions and duration of the program will depend on the desired level of fat reduction. Dr. Munk will combine both body contouring methods in a holistic approach for patients to achieve the best possible results.
